Pleasant Grove - This team has defeated Spanish Fork and Lehi to end their season after a dismal start they discovered A. Mikaulski and are now riding this very sucessful Freshmen pitcher. Giles, Best, Dodson and others are also providing a lot of offense. This team may pull a shocker in State.

Springville - This team started slow but once they started to ride Clark in the big games they were very successful. This teams hitting is also way above last years group and Mccray must have some monster stats as Sophomore playing her last season with the Devils. Clark is also providing a tremendous spark with her bat, she seems to lead off every big inning. Chalk and Kirkham have came on strong lately. Other role p_layer_s also seem to be providing needed hits also. Wins over Tooele and Spanish Fork show the potential of this team.

Spanish Fork - Even though this team has lost 2 of their last 3 they are still 20-2 for the best record in the Valley. Not a lot of pitchers can stand up to this team outside of Clark from Springville. 1-9 they are scary and have the potential to put up runs in bunches as Springville found out on Friday. Their pitching is good enough to win it all providing their offense and defense is solid.

These 3 all won their first round games and now comes the all tough 2nd Rd game. These 3 all have very tough draws, Spanish Fork vs Riverton two teams that at one point were receiving attention on the national level. I pick Spanish to win a very tough game at home and advance to the Quarter finals.

Plesant Grove gets Taylorsville after beating a very solid Viewmont team. The Vikings are peaking at the right time and this is one hot team, but Taylorsville is a very tall order. But if you can beat Spanish Fork you can probably shock Taylorsville also, anything is possible..... Look what happen to Bingham...

Springville beat a Box Elder team pretty soundly and now comes the prize of playing a Snow Canyon team with a huge chip on their shoulder and a ton of talent a 20-3 record speaks for itself. These are the type of games that let you know if your team is ready for the challenge ahead. This game will take a team effort.

I'm rooting for Pleasant Grove to go far and since the #1s in that half of their bracket are gone, they certainly have a chance.

I'm naturally interested in seeing how Springville performs against a team that you know wants to beat someone north of Fillmore. Definitely going to be a tough game. I do think that an advantage has to be Clark seeing that this will be their first time against her (not that it really matters). If she is on her game, I think the team is hitting enough that they'll score runs. Plus the distance factor. We'll see how Tooele does traveling in the opposite direction a long ways. A Region 7 vs. 9 powerplay.

Liken, I am also routing for PG but Taylorsville is the #1 in all of Utah (ranking wise at least). They are a 1 seed and the defending 5A state champs with 8 starters from last season back. This is a very tall order for the girls of PG.

Well 2 of my 3 "Hot" teams lost but I did fail to put Tooele on this list and probably should have considering they compete in Region 7, its just hard to consider them part of the "area". Tooele and Springville are one step from renewing their season long battle. This is the matchup everyone wants outside of Murray and Bountiful, and round 3 could happen on Wednesday and round 4 could happen of Thursday ..... could there be a 5 game?? Bountiful is a hot team so Tooele better beware and Murray is always tough in State, their coaches perpare very well.
