The _link_ above shows the results of the National Youth Basketball Championships, Las Vegas Summer Classic .

Salt Lake Metro Prospects had 3 PG p_layer_s and 5 LP p_layer_s:

Craig Tucker
CJ Wilcox
LeSean Wilcox

Tyler Haws
Josh Sharp
Nate Austin
Gabe Smith
Kimball Payne

The first 3 games in pool play were as follows:

Metro over Riv Rebels CA 99-54
Metro over Tesoro CA 80-46
Metro over LV Toros 81-45

Then on to the Tournament. Gabe Smith had to get back for football so Metro was down to 7 p_layer_s. Metro was matched up with Arizona Stars Bibby. This is Mike Bibby's all star team. They were the #1 Nike sponsored team in this tournament. Metro beat them by about 10 points. Haws had 49 points. The head of Vision Sports was not happy that their #1 team went down...

Metro then beat a good Fairfield CA Ballers team by 15 or so.

In the semi-finals Metro beat a very good LV Dogcatchers Elite team.

The finals had Metro vs. Cecil-Kirk MD. They were very big, athletic, and talented. It was back and forth and VERY physical. Metro was up by about 8 when LeSean and Josh fouled out. Metro was down to 5 p_layer_s. Then Nate Austin fouled out also. Down to 4 p_layer_s with a few minutes to play. Cecil-Kirk tied it up, under 1 minute and SL Metro prospects had 2 shots in the final 20 seconds to win that were in and out.

On to overtime. Both teams scored a basket early then the MD team went into a dealy and missed a shot at the end of the 1st overtime.

On to 2nd overtime. CJ got the tip but it was a little strong and went out of bounds. Cecil-Kirk held the ball the entire overtime and made a shot with 3 seconds left. Metro got the ball to Haws for a desperation 40 footer that was short.

Metro lost in the championship by 2 points. Good showing for the Utah Valley boys.
