oh haha i didnt notice that you said the defense would be solid and the WR's would be slow so that answers my question. So is it true about this freshman class (idk if you know anything about any of them) but I heard there is a kid who is benchin 175 already and hes only like 160lbs (which is big for a freshman but 175lb bench in the summer before freshman year is insane), i cant remember the kids name but i've heard hes comin out of nowhere.. I mean i've seen the talent they already have like the brooks, valtinson, and orme kids but i think this freshman class might have some kids really steppin up this year and throughout high school...but thats just incredible how big and fast kids are gettin...i graduated in 2005 and all the kids my age were pretty good p_layer_s but the summer before our freshman year i remember the strongest kids benchin around 135 or so...not freakin 175. Im sure kids can squat 500 or 600lbs these days too. any 4.4 40's? because these kids are becoming incredible. See if you can find out who that freshman that can bench that much is for me. cuz i wanna keep an eye out for this kid. Tell me if you know of any other hidden gem athletes juab might have too. All this stuff just gets me so stoked for football. Discuss this article on the forums. (0 posts)

ShadowThe subject of QB's has been brought up. Who is the top 5 QB's in 2A football. I dont know the kids but who should I be watching. Who is the best RB's as well?Lyman from San Juan is back, he will be solid. Garrett from Grand who I think is the best of class 2A. Jones from Juab who if he can be patient will be solid. RB's: I'm not sure who is back. But from Juab keep an eye on Morgan and Kyler Jones. Juab will be by commitee cause we have so many talented slots and backs. So none will dominate but as a group they will be awesome. I think SS has the Stembridge kid who will be awesome, not sure if he is a RB though. Discuss this article on the forums. (0 posts)

Hey guys. Grandfan from Moab back online. I think JHS-Sports-Follower is correct about Gordon Garrett. He is going to be a great QB this year. I hear he really wants to move to WR at the next level and with his speed and size, I think he can do it. He reminds me of Brian Hernandez of the Utes. It's hard to say how Grand will do this year. We have a couple of pretty big linemen. Some good backs and again a great QB. Losing Tanner Brown (going to Snow), Cody Skiby (Snow) and Kelly VanArsdol (track at SUU) doesn't help. Our first game is at home against Logan so that one will say a lot. I have to say that I am proud of how Coach Dennis Wells has turned our program around. He led us to our team to it's first ever state championship in '05. And he has coached four, maybe five, to the next level (Zane Taylor on scholarship at the U, Travis Stott invited walkon then scholarship at USU, Brown on scholarship at Snow, Cody Skiby invited walkon at Snow, and maybe VanArsdol walking on at SUU). Taylor and Stott are both in the two-deep on the O-line in division IA schools. Not bad for a 2A HS coach in his sixth year here! Discuss this article on the forums. (0 posts)

Does anyone know anything about South Summit or North Summit? I hear they are supposed to be good but I don't much about them. What about the south region, anyone know what Millard and San Juan have coming back? I can't wait...gridiron season can't get here soon enough! Discuss this article on the forums. (0 posts)

JuabalumJHS-Sports-FollowerJuabalumI have missed this trash talk! I've been away for a few years and have missed out on this. Juab is the best, hands down...I mean thats what we say every year right haha...Hopefully we will get that _title_ to back our talk once and for all. I'm pretty impressed with the kids Bowring has this year, and hes definitely a great coach...He can really relate to the kids and hes the type of guy you want to go to battle with. The Jones kid has a rocket arm with a bunch of athletic ability, he just needs to get rid of his happy feet and let the game come to him instead of tryin to hit the homerun each time. Reminds me of the john beck situation in the first half of his byu career and then he calmed down and let the game come to him his Jr. and Sr. Season and he was a freakin stud..Just like i see Jordan Jones doing. The Hansen kid is also their QB of the future, anyone who hasnt seen that kid launch a ball, its a sight too see...check it out for sure, its impressive. They have a stable of RB's! Im not sure of who their WR are but im sure they are good too...I know that we heard that this would be a special group back when they were 7th and 8th graders when i was graduating so im excited to see this class come together. I have no idea what is goin on in any of the other Schools around 2A but im stoked to see the competition. Well Im sure ill be back to discuss more football with you people at a later time. Good luck to everyone, especially Juab...it'd be awesome to get the proverbial monkey off our backs!
I am excited for this season as well. There are a couple things I see that will be key to Juab making a run. As far as our QB goes, I agree with you. Jordan has potential. If he will avoid throwing into coverage and not look for the vertical long routes each time and not lock in on one reciever he will be a threat. I want to add something to your QB of the future, the Hansen kid is a talent and a good one at that, but I wouldn't be surprised to see the Orem kid who is a Freshman take the controls next season. From what I hear they are equal at this point, in fact the Orem kid is more athletic. Rumor is he is the one being groomed to be the next starter. It will all play out though and I trust Bowring will do what's right. Our defense will be solid as usual. And I really feel the key to our offense will be how well our young line matures and the play of our slot backs (Young, Jones and Street). Those three will be a force on the ends and even between the tackles but are a dual threat when we open up the pass game. We also have the Morgan kid back at FB and he will be pushed hard by the Kiesl kid that just moved in. He is a stout little sucker and I feel will make a huge impact. Our WR are big but slow and I doubt will have a huge impact on the season. It all comes down to coming together and listening to the coach and executing what he says will work and if so they will be dangerous as always.
Yeah dude i trust bowring with it. But i've watched Brock orme and Brady hansen and trust me, Hansen has the edge on him. Orme is young but agewise he is actually 6 months older than brady hansen is what i've heard. Plus Brady has a stronger arm and makes better decisions and when he actually gets some good receivers to throw to then he will be a good one. Dont get me wrong, brock has talent but i'd use him as a colton baird type slot that they use to throw all the trick plays, so if i had to groom a qb of the future, I'd take hansen. I also am way stoked about this batch of talent juab has. Do they have any WR's? and how will their defense look? I really have no clue about this team. I know that the freshman arent too bad cuz my bro will be a freshman this year so i've seen his games. So dude are you still a JHS student or are you a grad?I am an older grad. One question, how do you figure brock is 6 months older than brady and is one full grade behind? That doesn't work being that much age gap. I know we all have our opinions and to be honest it's a good situation to be in having more than one kid talented enough to compete for the QB spot. Hell, two years ago when we had Blackett kid that was all we had for two years and if would have crashed then we would have been screwed. But now it's nice to finally have some options. As far as kids running 4.4's...thats just some BS. I heard from a very reliable source that the fastest kid on the team is Kyler Jones and he ran the 40 in 4.6 which is fast and the next fastest was Orey Young at like a 4.9. I haven't heard anything about those kids that are lifting that much. I do know we have a new move in from Sanpete, a Kiesl kid that is strong as a bull and will contribute to the team in great ways!!!! Discuss this article on the forums. (0 posts)

Brock was held back just like his brother royce was in school...thats why they seem like more advanced athletes. So he is older than brady, but who cares. Brocks in the grade behind so thats what age he is. I dont think any of those kids would complain or cry foul about the situation. They just want to battle it out and have fun. I may think the situation is a little bogus tho....thats an age old thing for parents to hold their kids back for sports but thats a load of shit if ya ask me. But hey all it does is help our team anyway, right? But i actually know both kids pretty well..I definitely agree that its a hell of a good situation to be in for sure. Two kids that are both athletic and can play the QB position quite well is a nice option too have. I just love to build all the hype around these position battles and im excited about the season comin up. I dont know that ill be able to see any games this year, but i do wish them the best. And from what you're sayin about all the talent we have...they should do quite well...I just hope we have a good line...cuz last year i heard jordans biggest problem at QB was that he had no time to do much of anything...and now they've lost zack, todd, and the messersmith kid so i hope they replace them and give him more time to throw. I just hope we dont have another let down season...Not that the playoffs isnt a big accomplishment, but we are there almost every year and now i just think any season we dont win state is a down season. To be honest with you I wished we had the group of kids that Bowring had his first two years right now, now that he has had 4 years to implement his program. But we play with what we got and in my opinion we have an awesome bunch this year and should be in position to do well. I agree that it is time to win it all, just getting to the semi's 3 times and the finals once is awesome and more than Juab has done forever, but I think we all expect that now and want more. Should be fun to see how it all plays out. I hear the freshman class this year is loaded to so the future is bright! As far as the line goes, I have heard that they are very talented, decent size but they are all young. The Brough and Evans kid will anchor the line with Bainter and a few other kids stepping in. I think we have a larson kid back that will play. In my opinion they should stick Tyson Lynn on the line, he is a big agile kid and he is pretty tough as well. But like I always say, Bowring knows best. Did you watch many games last year? The line was solid, as solid as we've had to be honest with you. Jordan's problem is he tries to do to much and has no patience to sit in the pocket and let the game come to him. I wished Bowring would show him some film of Blackett, that kid stood in the pocket better than anyone in 2A football for two years...they also should dig out some old Josh Park film and show him as he was another classic example. Those two kids are the best QB's to ever come through Juab High School, and I have seen them all since the 80's. Anyhow, if Jordan will TRUST his line and develop some patience he has all the tools to have an awesome Senior season and lead Juab to something know other QB has led them to and that is a championship season. let me know what you think.......this is interesting seeing what other think....
