Basketball takes center stage 1 Year, 8 Months ago Karma: 0
I've just finished my second game of the young season, watching a pretty good Orem-AF girls game. Keep an eye on the Cavemen. They're young, talented, and may not feel any pressure because of it. The region they're in is brutal, though.

I also saw Provo fall to Davis last week and I'm looking forward to seeing the Bulldogs and the Knights tomorrow night.

I love this time of year. Yes, there are a lot of mistakes but I'm still fresh on the basketball scene. The squeek of shoes, the sound of leather rustling the net, the steady drumroll of bouncing balls, that's what winter is about.

Hoop fans, it's time to talk about your teams. Who's going to be good? Who will be rebuilding? Who's the best p_layer_ in the area?

Region 4 - Competitive and Entertaining 1 Year, 8 Months ago Karma: 0
PG - The team to beat. They are region champs and until someone takes them out, they are still on top. The Wilcox kids and Tucker are entertaining. They may drop 120 points on someone this year! So athletic and talented. Their lack of size may be an issue. Brady will be the surprise of this team this season.

SF - Dallin N. is a great floor leader and competitor. SF's coach is very good and his team always plays tenacious defense. Watch out for the Dons.

LP - Balance and a great coach. Any one of 6 kids could drop 20 points on you. This team is very unselfish. Knight and Day different from last year.

AF - The Mason kid is full of hustle, talent, and smarts. J. Ross is a very good shooter and works hard. Greg M. can't be left alone either and is an athletic kid. The coaches are great and you will know you've been in a dogfight after playing them.

THS - Skyler will average 20+ per game. The Ashworth kid can jump well and is very good around the basket. Not much else known about this group.

MV - The sleeper in the region. Jeff Gardner, new coach, will have them playing an uptempo game. It will take most of the preseason for them to really know Jeff's system.

Every game will be tough. Overlook anyone at your own peril.

Prediction: LP, PG, SF, AF in the playoffs in that order. THS and MV will compete for that last spot and might make it in.

Who really knows? I don't. Just looking forward to some great games in this region every week.

Have fun!
